Stream Systems was recognized as an innovation leader on Friday night at the Alberta Science and Technology Leadership (ASTech) Awards, winning the Outstanding Science & Technology Startup-Up Award.

The ASTech Foundation has showcased Alberta innovators in science and technology since 1989, giving out awards celebrating world-class creativity, industry growth, and global advances. The ASTech Awards recognize and celebrate Alberta’s brightest minds, and the greatest achievements of many outstanding individuals and organizations in the Alberta science and technology community.

Upon acceptance of the award, Allan Chegus, President & CEO of Stream stated,

“Our company builds simulation optimization software that helps large oil and gas companies find answers to complex operating problems. Our clients have saved millions of dollars using our software and in the process have become more efficient and productive.

This is the true definition of innovation. Making the world better through products and services that create positive, tangible change. It’s innovation that creates jobs, drives growth and improves quality of life. More than ever, innovation is what we need, today.

When we launched our little company two years ago, who thought we would do such amazing things. At the end of it, it’s always about hardworking, talented people who see a better way and find a way to make it a reality. It takes courage to build something new, believe in an idea and make it all come true.”

Brenda Crickmore, ASTech Awards Chair elaborated on the prestigious nature of the award,

“We only honor the best of the best. On occasion the adjudicators may determine that all of the nominees in a category fall short and in that case, no award will be presented.

Tonight 16 finalists will join a growing list of more than 550 ASTech alumni whose achievements have been showcased over the past 26 years. This is a world class list, and a testament to the dedication, perseverance and spirit of innovation in the science and technology sector in Alberta.”

Thank you to ASTech for the award, and congratulations to the other winners and nominees. Additional congratulations are in order for the Stream team who has worked hard to make the vision behind Stream a reality.
